William Alexander has been recruiting contract and interim professionals for clients since 2010 and we currently have more than 150 contractors on client site in the UK.

We have number one supplier status in the majority of the contract Preferred Supplier Lists we belong to. We have achieved this by using our outstanding delivery model to quickly identify the best contractors on the market and looking after our contractors on site so they are happy to come back to us time after time.


At William Alexander our recruitment team is split into two distinct functions: Business Consultants (who take responsibility for account management); and a larger team of Researchers or Delivery Consultants who spend all day and every day sourcing and screening candidates.

Many recruitment agencies employ ‘Resourcers’ in a similar role but regard this as a junior, short-term position before moving into a Recruitment Consultant role. Here at William Alexander we do things quite differently. We see delivery as the most important piece of the recruitment life-cycle and never more so than in today’s candidate-driven market. This, combined with our low staff turnover of under 4% per annum, has enabled us to build an established team of Researchers, each with an average of more than 7 years’ recruitment experience.

This means we are usually able to identify and provide a shortlist of 3-4 highly qualified candidates to a contract vacancy within 24 hours and a major reason why we are the leading contract recruitment supplier for the majority of our contract clients.


At William Alexander we take a great deal of pride in running a back office operation that goes way beyond the levels of service contractors normally receive from their recruitment agencies and for which we receive frequent and regular praise.

As an agency, we realise that the most important thing we can do for our contractors is to pay each and every one of their invoices on time without fail – it is our absolute priority. Our automated online timesheet system, self-billing capabilities, dedicated (and friendly) accounts team and fast payment turnaround all help to ensure this is always the case.

We also want to build long-term relationships with our contractors that will last for years to come and we appreciate that this will not happen if they only hear from us at extension time. Our dedicated Account Managers maintain regular contact with all of our contractors post placement, not only by phone or email but also regularly in person over coffee, lunch or a glass of wine. Our friendly and long-established back office team are also always on hand to help with any contract, timesheet or invoice queries. We are also one of the very few recruitment agencies who still have annual Christmas parties where all our contractors are welcome.

As a result, many of our contractors have happily continued to work with us for several years and with multiple clients.
